Q&A: Need help with a snoring husband.?

Question by Christy F: Need help with a snoring husband.?
My husband and I have been together/married for almost two years. I have only slept through the night with him 1 time, and it breaks my heart not to wake up next to him or feel the warmth and love from him holding me….anyways I know there are tons of miracle products out there that claim to help someone stop snoring, but has anyone out there tried one that actually worked?

  1. Try the nose strips, they work for my husband. If his snoring is that bad, then use ear plugs. Good luck!

  2. Well my grandfather and father use that RipSnore stuff and it has worked. here is a link http://www.ripsnore.com/?gclid=CNXIyL3bnaMCFQpf2godfTYGqQ

  3. A CPAP machine is the cure, but it’s not cheap or attractive. It provides positive air pressure all night through a mask. How romantic, huh?

Nasal congestion is implicated in snoring. A man getting plenty of air through his nose doesn’t open his mouth to inhale or exhale, and doesn’t snore. So deal with that if it’s an issue. (Be aware that smokers’ noses are often chronically inflamed inside.)

Better is your husband training himself not to lie on his back to sleep, so the soft palate doesn’t sag and get in the way of breathing. The cure is silly and requires his cooperation, but it works in a couple of weeks.

Sew (big stitches–this won’t be permanent) a large pocket on the back of whatever shirt(s) he sleeps in. Put a tennis ball in the pocket. Kiss him goodnight and off to sleep with both of you.

Any time he tries to lie on his back, he’ll be uncomfortable but not injured. He’ll roll onto his side or belly. After one to two weeks, he won’t need the tennis ball any more–but keep it around in case he relapses into the habit of lying on his back.

White noise like a fan running can mask mild snoring.

And last, remember that snoring can be the sweetest sound. Ask any woman whose man isn’t home by bed-time–or any widow.

  4. stuff his mouth with a scock..

  5. my husband snored like a freight train. we went to a pulmonary
specialist who ordered a “sleep study” where he spent the
night in a special lab. they found out that he had sleep apnea.
apparently a lot of snorers have a condition that causes them
to stop breathing briefly several times to hundreds of times
during the night while they are sleeping. they don’t get the
rest that they need plus it can cause health problems later
on. get him tested first! if he doesn’t have sleep apnea, an
ear, nose and throat specialist can determine whether or
not his adenoids, tonsils, etc. are enlarged and blocking
his airways. also, there are special pillows made that
can help open his airway and stop that snoring. be careful
about taking over the counter stuff – no one really knows
how that will affect you later in life.

  6. I’ve slept with earplugs in for 20+ years due to snoring husband issues. He does not have sleep apnea, just snores. You get used to the earplugs. I like the soft foam ones. The best part is, I can still hear high noises, like my alarm, just not low “snoring” noises.

  7. I can really sympathise with you, as this happened in my first marriage and I am sure this is one of the contributing reasons for our divorce. I am so convinced about it that I have written a book around how I believe that snoring can destroy our relationships, and we don’t even know it is happening. It is great that you have acknowledged the problem and want to fix it. In my current marriage both of us snore and we didn’t want to end up in separate rooms as per my first marraige. So we tried lots and lots of snoring remedies until we found the one that best suited us. And this is the key to it, you must try lots to find what best suits you and your husband because we are all different. We tried nose strips, sprays, earplugs, mouth pieces but what has worked for us is a white noise machine. Check out my website http://snoring.lotsforall.com for a description of it and where to buy them plus lots of other snoring remedies and advice. Keep trying – the cuddles in bed are worth it. Good luck and happy sleeping!
